Jed Paulsen was an orphan whose dreams were protected by The Sandman (Garrett Sanford). He is the son of Burt Paulsen and Miranda Walker, and the younger brother of Rose Walker. Jed is the paternal grandson of Ezra Paulsen and the maternal grandson of Unity Kinkaid and Desire of the Endless.
