Some time in the first half of the 30th century, the Superman of that era destroyed a comet that was headed toward an inhabited world. Superman failed to notice that the comet's destruction opened a space-warp to another dimension. The space-warp pulled a nearby spaceship through into the other-dimensional space. One of the female passengers on that trapped ship gave birth to a son. The baby was physically abnormal, but appeared to have terrific mental abilities. Soon after, the space-warp closed and the ship was hurled back into normal space. The child grew up to become Muto, a villain who wanted vengeance on the whole Superman line for making him a freak.
