Masane Amaha

• Also known as

Masane Amaha is the main character of the Witchblade anime TV series. The character was originally designed by Uno Makoto, and later designed for comics by Rob Levin and Michael Turner. Due to a terrible catastrophe, Masane lost her memory and was found at ground zero holding a child who would be discovered to be her daughter, Rihoko (she later finds out the baby is not her biological child). Because of Rihoko, Masane is at odds with NSWF's Child Welfare Division. She even steals a police car to try to get Rihoko back from them at one point and she ends up in jail. While in jail, Masane is attacked by a machine that can take on human form, which awakens the Witchblade so it bonds with her and she becomes the next Witchblade Bearer. There are two other Witchblade Bearers in this story whom Masane has to defeat, but not before she learns the Witchblade is beginning to break down her own body and speed her towards death.
