Dorothy Gale is a Kansas farm girl based off the 1900 L. Frank Baum character from classic literature, who was popularized by the 1939 MGM film, The Wizard of Oz, directed by Victor Fleming and starring Judy Garland. In the Zenescope comics book series, Dorothy differs from her literature counterpart in a few ways. Upon adventuring to Oz for the first time, Dorothy discovers she is a "Falseblood:" the descendant of a "Highborn" and a human. Due to this lineage, she has innate combat abilities as well as magic powers which she lacks in the original literature and cinematic versions from which the Zenescope version was adapted. Once Dorothy adopts a wolf she names 'Toto,' who was at one time a companion to a wizard in Oz, her life is thrown into chaos.
