Sophia, also Sleeping Beauty, is a princess in Zenescope Entertainment's comics universe, who has been cursed by a jealous woman who was not invited to the baby's birth celebration. The curse said that at age 16, Sophia's finger would be pricked, sending her into a deep sleep. Only true love's kiss would be able to wake her from the sleep, and any who try unsuccessfully would suffer doom. On her 16th birthday, pricking her finger on the thorn of a rose given to her by a stranger, Sophia falls into the deep sleep that was foretold, and so princes come to try to wake her. They decompose as soon as their lips touch hers, failing to lift her from sleep. All princes unsuccessful, the king invites non-royals to the task. One of the king's men, Tristan, who has been infatuated with Sophia from afar, kisses her and she immediately awakes. Tristan is given Sophia's hand in marriage in return, but she does not return his feelings. She has feelings for another. When Tristan overhears Sophia talking to her beau about her lack of love for her husband-to-be, it shatters his perfect image of her. He realizes what a vain and self-absorbed person she really is, and his love is lost. He decomposes before their eyes, and Sophia falls back asleep, the curse returning without love to keep it at bay.
