Dawn is the Goddess of birth and rebirth as well as the protector of the Earth's witches. Though many of her stories involve God and Lucifer, suggesting a Christian-based mythology underlying the comic, Dawn is also referred to by the names of and sometimes depicted as non-Christian religious characters (Isis, Kali, and Gaia, for example) who have similar roles to do with birth and rebirth. The comics (post-Cry For Dawn, which was a horror series in which Dawn was only a cover girl) use religious concepts and characters to explore philosophical concepts. As a Goddess, Dawn is immortal and capable of inter-planar travel. She is quite skilled at use of bladed weapons as well as unarmed combat. She is the lover of Cernunnos, the God of death, who takes corporeal form in the body of Darrian Ashoka in a post-apocalyptic New York City.
