Mark Scheffer is the real name of the villain, Shrapnel. Shrapnel is a villain whose body appears to be made out of jagged pieces of metal, but these pieces are actually organic scales, which are individual organisms controlled by Shrapnel's consciousness. He can fire individual scales out of his body with immense force and they act as dangerous weapons. Shrapnel's scales gain sustenance from blood, and he can explode and reform at will within a matter of seconds. If a scale is lost, it eventually dies, but Shrapnel can create new scales. In the DC Rebirth continuity, Shrapnel is a Flash villain made of small, sharp pieces of metal. He can explode and reform these pieces at will and can also regenerate them. Additionally he has superhuman strength and durability. It is as of yet unknown how Mark Scheffer became Shrapnel.
