Joey Monteleone

Joey Monteleone is the younger brother of Keystone City drug kingpin, Jack Monteleone. Joey ends up in prison when doing work for his brother, and it is there that he learns of his ability to project his astral form into inanimate objects, making them animate. One day, Joey transports his astral form into a vat of tar. He names himself Tar Pit and forgets about his comatose body lying in Iron Heights Penitentiary. As Tar Pit, Joey can no longer project his astral form, but he is able to trap people in the molten asphalt which makes up his body. He can also fire projectiles of tar, and he has superhuman strength. On the New 52 Prime Earth, Joseph Monteleone operates out of Central City as Tar Pit. When the Justice League is supposedly killed by the Crime Syndicate during the "Forever Evil" storyline, Gorilla Grodd claims the Central City as his new Gorilla City. Joseph Monteleone and a few other criminals challenge Grodd, and he forces them out. Joseph Monteleone joins the Super Society of Super-Villains and gets trapped in the Mirror World. Later, when the Justice League returns, Joseph is sent to Iron Heights by Flash, and sent there again by Kid Flash after robbing a toy store. Eventually, he is invited to join the Legion of Zoom by Reverse-Flash to finally defeat Flash.
