Golden Darkness is a young assassin who has been hired by one of princess Lala's suitors to kill his rival (the main character) Yuuki Rito. Besides the ability of flight, she can transform parts of her body into deadly weapons. Because Rito was kind to her on their first meeting, and because she learns that her client lied about what kind of person Rito was, she claims she will defer killing Rito until later, on the grounds that she never gives up on a mission. She remains on Earth, and does a lot of reading about Earth. Rito's sister Mikan becomes her first friend. Those who are friendly to her, such as Lala, call her Yami or Yami-chan. Eventually she grows to love Rito, but never admits it to anyone, and always insists that he is her target. One drawback is that she hates lewdness, and Rito is constantly accidently falling onto females and winding up in lewd positions. In the sequel To Love-Ru Darkness series, her origin and abilities form one of the two major plot threads.
