Sparkington J. Northrup was an American orphan adopted by Lord Wellington Northrup of Suppleshire, England. Because of the War in Europe, Sparkington was sent to the United Stated for his safety. When Sparkington discovers The Blue Beetle's secret identity, he says he'll keep the secret only if he can "dress like you and be your helper". Thus, he became Sparky, sidekick of The Blue Beetle.
