Flying Stag

Flying Stag of the Iroquois' Wolf Clan prayed to Manitou, the Great Spirit, to save his people from three rival clan chiefs. Suddenly, a glowing meteor crashed to Earth and bathed him in its strange radiation. Somewhere in the realm between waking and sleeping, Manitou spoke to Flying Stag. He bestowed upon him mighty powers: strength a thousand times that of the bear, speed greater than the swiftest deer, and leaping prowess beyond that of the wolf. Flying Stag was renamed Saganowahna ("Super-Chief"). He took a fragment of the meteor and used deerhide thongs to create an amulet. He was warned that when the amulet glows, he would have the powers he was promised, but they would only last for about one hour per day. From the body of a dead black buffalo, Flying Stag fashioned leggings, moccasins, and a horned mask, completing his transformation into Super-Chief.
