In May 50,017 AD, Professor Solis determines that in three years the Earth will be so near the Sun that all life will be wiped out. Solis has invented a method to build heat-proof cities, and he enlists the help of his daughter Betty and Blaze Barton. Unfortunately, the public doesn't heed Solis' warnings, so he spends his own fortune to build such a city himself, which he names Solis City. As predicted, the heat kills everything outside his city, leaving the Earth barren. After many months, strange new vegetation begins to sprout. Eventually, after donning protective gear, Blaze and Betty venture forth to explore. There they encounter a strange race of mutated humans named the Core-Men, who kidnap Betty. Blaze, Solis, and the President succeed in rescuing Betty from the palace of the Core King. The President believes the Core-Men cannot be civilized, and that war is the only option.
