Harvey Harris, a detective in the Gotham City Police Department, became a mentor to young Bruce Wayne, who wore a colorful costume to hide his true identity. Harris named his new sidekick "Robin", because his costume reminded him of a robin redbreast. Harris trained Bruce in the skills of detective work and criminal investigation.
