Mantis is a member of a humanoid insect species from New Genesis. He is tall and of massive build, he has orange eyes and is hairless. He is dressed in a suit with a helmet adorned with decorative horns. He is the leader of a colony of humanoid insects that have migrated from New Genesis to Apokolips. In return for his fealty, Darkseid gifted him with great power: he typically spent time in a power pod recharging his energies, and he has the ability to absorb energies sent by an opponent such as Green Lantern. He is part of the Darkseid's Elite.
