Ellsworth has demonstrated an impulsive attitude, often quick to pull a firearm in response to supernatural threats, only to find himself in need of rescue as well. Ellsworth’s rank in the police hierarchy is the subject of some inconsistency, with him being referred to as “sergeant,” “detective captain” and just “captain” in the texts.
