Red, whose real name is unchronicled, was the getaway driver for "Biff" Davis' mob and later a member of the media-dubbed "Phantom Gang," formed from the remnants of Davis' gang and led by an amnesiac Federal Men agent Steve Carson, believing himself to be a gangster named Dan Steele. Red initially challenged Carson's leadership but eventually fell in line after a beatdown from Carson. However, after being apprehended by police during a failed jewelry store robbery, Red led police to believe he would aid them in stopping the gang in exchange for a lighter sentence. Red ultimately double-crossed the police and attempted to kill Federal Men agent Ralph Ventor. Red was stopped by a still-amnesiac Carson, who subsequently regained his memory and put an end to the gang.
