The Misermites are a group of recurring adversaries in the Popeye universe. These identical-looking dwarfs are notorious for attacking in large numbers, stealing any valuables they encounter. Their raids often target Popeye’s hometown or locations like King Blozo’s kingdom. Originating from Misermite Island, they are ruled by their leader, the cunning and greedy King Miser. The Misermites made their debut in Popeye #9 in 1949 and have continued to clash with Popeye in subsequent adventures.
