Birdseed is Popeye's dog, first introduced in the 1956 comic book Popeye. He became part of Popeye's life after a Spinachovian government incident involving the animal in the story The Dog Who Wore a Crown!. Following this, Birdseed remained in the series as a pet for Popeye and Swee'Pea, though his appearances were limited to a brief period.
