Azazel is a superior demon. It has the appearance of a levitating oval shape with multiple eyes and horns on the side. In Sandman, he is co-monarch of the underworld with Lucifer Morningstar and Beelzebub. Azazel is one of Lucifer Morningstar's co-rulers of Hell; part of the triumvirate formed by itself, Lucifer, and Azazel after a civil war in Hell destabilized the realm.
