Le Corinthien est un cauchemar créé par Dream (Sandman), qui finit par le détruire parce qu’il était devenu incontrôlable et avait échoué à réaliser son dessein originel qui était, selon Dream, d’être un « miroir noir » conçu pour refléter les ténèbres que l’humanité ne pouvait affronter par elle-même. Dream le recréa plus tard avec "quelques changements", bien que la nature exacte de ces changements ne soit pas explicite. Il a l'apparence d'un humanoïde mâle, grand et bel homme. Il est le plus souvent habillé impeccablement, en blanc. Les amandes de ses yeux sont remplies de rangées de dents, formant des bouches avec lesquelles il peut parler, manger, respirer. Il cache ses orbites avec des lunettes à verres fumés.
