Gateway is an Indigenous Australian mutant character in the Marvel Universe, created by Chris Claremont and Marc Silvestri in 1988, whose first appearance was in Uncanny X-Men #229 and death was in Uncanny X-Force #27. Not much is known about his origins, but Gateway can create wormholes through spiritual connection to his peoples, for which he was forced into servitude for the Reavers to enable them to travel before being rescued by the X-Men. The Reavers gave Gateway his name as he is the only one who knows his true name.
