This series is set in the near future, in "The World That's Coming". The Global Peace Agency select Buddy Blank, a timid factory worker, as a candidate for a secret project. Professor Myron Forest performs a computer-hormonal operation on Buddy, enabling him to interface with Brother Eye, an advanced artificial intelligence orbiting in space. By transmitting certain energies to Buddy, Brother Eye is able to transform him into the super-powered OMAC, the One Man Army Corps. Six decades later, the Earth suffers a global catastrophe known as The Great Disaster. Buddy raises his grandson in a bunker named "Command D", located somewhere in New York City. The boy is named Kamandi, after their secure sanctuary. When Kamandi is a teenager, Buddy is killed, and Kamandi must venture out alone into the strange, new world.
