The hero known as Immortal Man-in-Darkness is secretly a squadron of pilots. Each flight aboard The Dragonwing, a living fighter plane, takes a year off the pilot's lifespan. The Chinese military hides this information from the public by portraying Immortal Man-in-Darkness as a single person. The Dragonwing is known to be some form of Durlan technology, and she has nine "sisters" who can also be commanded by Dragonwing's pilot.
