Francisco Franco Bahamonde (born 1892-12-04, died 1975-11-20) was a Spanish general and dictator who led the Nationalist forces in overthrowing the Second Spanish Republic during the Spanish Civil War. He then ruled over Spain, heading a highly authoritarian government, from 1939 until his death in 1975.
