One night while camping, an orphan named Willie Fawcett follows an owl to a hidden cave. He is greeted by Merokee, last of the great medicine men of the Mohegan tribe. He is given a magic belt buckle which will bestow upon him seven spiritual powers. By rubbing the buckle and saying the magic word "Thunder", he is transformed into the mighty Captain Thunder. Following a battle against the Monster League of Evil, Captain Thunder inadvertently ends up on Earth-One.
