Hugo Pratt

Hugo Pratt was an Italian creator known for combining storytelling with historical and cultural references, and for his strong contrast of light and ink. He grew up in Venice, Italy, and Ethiopia. In 1945, Pratt began a 50-year career and worked in Italy, Argentina, the UK, France and Switzerland. In France, he and his work have been the subject of books and exhibitions. He drew inspiration from Robert Louis Stevenson, Héctor Germán Oesterheld, and Milton Caniff and has himself influenced several other creators.
