Romano Felmang

Felmang grew up reading and drawing comics. In 1964 he illustrated the comic strip Fantax for Cofedit before leaving for military service. In 1966, he did his first full story, a Phantom adventure that was published in the 'Classic of Adventure' series. In 1967, he began work for publishers in Milan: Johnny Beat for Cervinia, Kriminal for Corno, The Intrepid comics for Universo. He founded the Cartoonstudio in 1968 where many current and new artists were afforded work and space. During the 1970s, he produced pocket comics such as Sylvie, Oltretomba, Loana, Makabar, Zip and Sabata, and created stories for Intrepido, Monello, Bliz, Albo dell'Intrepido, Skorpio and Lanciostory. In the 1980s, he started drawing the Swedish 'Phantom' which was distributed to several countries including Australia where he is credited as Roy Mann. When he has worked with the artist Germano Ferri, their collaborations are sometimes credited as Fermang.
