René Follet est un illustrateur et dessinateur de bande dessinée belge. Dès 14 ans, il réalisa ses premiers travaux d'illustration. Il intégra les milieux scouts et ses revues, viviers de talents, s'inscrivant dans la lignée des dessinateurs attachés au scoutisme, et prenant la relève de l’illustrateur belge Pierre Ickx, qui a inspiré Pierre Joubert, ou de MiTacq. À partir de 1950, il collabora au journal Spirou, y réalisant illustrations puis bandes dessinées (Les Belles Histoires de l'Oncle Paul), puis pour le Journal de Tintin, La Semaine de Suzette, Le Journal de Mickey (Les Zingari). Sa carrière le mena autant vers la bande dessinée (séries Steve Severin, Jean Valhardi, travaillant avec Duchâteau et Stoquart et collaborant avec des dessinateurs, en fournissant des crayonnés), que vers l'illustration, qu'elle soit publicitaire, documentaire ou romanesque (illustration des séries Bob Morane et Edmund Bell).
