Sam Brier

Stevens sold his first cartoon to Judge magazine when he was 16 years old. His single panel work also appeared in the pages of Saturday Evening Post, Collier's and The New Yorker. He was the creator of several strips that appeared in newspapers and magazines: *Mop O'Hare* (1945-1947), *General Mischief* (1947-1949), *Stevie* (1951-1952), and *Small World* (1952-1956). *General Mischief* originally ran in The American Legion Magazine and was later syndicated to newspapers by the McNaught Syndicate. *Stevie* was originally a newspaper strip syndicated by the Bell Syndicate and was reprinted in various DC humor magazines of the 1950s. His last strip, *Small World*, has been compared to *Peanuts*, though it was similar in art and writing style to his earlier works.
