Henryk Chmielewski

Chmielewski was a Polish comic book artist and journalist. He served in Poland's Home Army during World War II and took part in the Warsaw Uprising. After the war, he started contributing to Świat Młodych magazine as a cartoonist and graphic designer. His first comics work was on 'Sierżant King z królewskiej konnicy' (Zane Grey's 'Sergeant King from the Royal Mounted'). His most popular creation was 'Romek i A'Tomek', later renamed 'Tytus, Romek i A'Tomek', which debuted in 1957, about an anthropomorphic, talking chimpanzee who wants to become a human.
