Howard James was an African American creator who worked on the Marvel [Timely] features Whizzer, Davey and the Demon, and the Black Marvel, all early 1942. His Second World War Draft Registration Card he filled out on February 16, 1942, listed not only his birthdate, birthplace, race, and other physical characteristics, but also that he was employed by Timely Comics, confirming he was an actual creator. It is possible that his name was also used briefly as a house name, as the last known credit, "The Demon's Rampage" in Davey and the Demon feature for Mystic Comics (Marvel, 1940 series) #10 (August 1942), appears to be the work of Mike Sekowsky doing pencil work.
