DeAngelo did support work for Columbia Comics Corporation as a co-editor from 1944 to 1946 and as a managing editor from 1948 to 1949. He also did support work for Magazine Enterprises as an associate editor in 1943. In his Daily News profile, DeAngelo stated he worked for DC in 1937 and created the color scheme of Superman's costume. He also stated he worked for the McNaught Syndicate, work he did for either company is unknown. He was listed as either an editor or a chief editorial executive for the Frank Jay Markey Syndicate in Editor & Publisher (The Editor & Publisher, Inc., 1901 series) from 1945 until 1970. DeAngelo created Basil the Royal Cat for St. John. He received the trademark for the character/logo Trademark Serial No. 638,286.
