Bob McGrath

McGrath attended St Mary's Primary School and Lawside Academy, then spent several years in the armed forces, and was stationed for some time in Germany. He returned to Dundee in the 1950s and enrolled in the city's Duncan of Jordanstone Art College. After graduation, he established himself as a freelance illustrator and, in 1960, was commissioned to work for the Beano. His first comic strip was "Wonder Boy" which only lasted for 12 months. He then went on to draw "Ginger" in The Beezer for some 20 years until the comic finished in the early 1990s. He also drew "Little Mo" for the Beezer. His best known work was drawing "The Three Bears" in The Beano for around 25 years, longer than original artist Leo Baxendale.
