Tasos Apostolidis

Tasos Apostolidis is a Greek writer, born in Thessaloniki in 1947. Beginning in the 1980s he has scripted comics adaptations of the comedies of Aristophanes, illustrated by Giorgos Akokalidis, which have since been continuously in print, having sold more than 700 thousand copies in total, and been translated to English, French, German and Turkish. He has also collaborated in other classically-themend comics including the Odyssey, Iphigenia, Antigone, Aesop's Fables, and the Ancient Olympics. From 1972 until the end of the 1990's his vignettes and humorous short stories have been published in magazines and newspapers in Athens and Thessaloniki, the first collection of which was published under the title "Ευθυμογραφήματα για κατηφείς" in 1972. He has published 44 books in total, including his comics albums. He has written theatre plays and stand-up comedy and in 1999 founded the "Heretical Troupe" (Αιρετικός Θίασος) for which he was until 2002 the sole author and director of plays in the "Mylos" cultural complex in Thessaloniki. He studied mathematics at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and for 42 years worked in private education, including 36 years as a director and Vice President of the American Farm School of Thessaloniki. He is a member of the Greek Directors Association, and the Federation of European Screen Directors (FERA).
