Irwin Hasen

Irwin Hasen was an American cartoonist best known for creating with writer Gus Edson the long-running newspaper comic strip Dondi and work at DC including creating Wildcat with writer Bill Finger and illustrating Green Lantern and the Justice Society of America. Born and trained in New York, he studied at the National Academy of Design and Art Students League and began as a sports cartoonist before entering comics by joining the Harry "A" Chesler shop. While serving in the military during World War II, Hasen ran the Fort Dix newspaper, then returned to comics. From 1976 to 2007, he taught at the Kubert School and the School of Visual Arts.
