José-Louis Bocquet

José-Louis Bocquet is a novelist, biographer, journalist, publisher, and comic book writer. Together with François Rivière he wrote the scripts for Le Privé d'Hollywood, illustrated by Philippe Berthet. From 1989 to 1991, he created with Francis Vallés the trilogy Dorian Dombre. He went on to produce several comic books with Serge Clerc, Arno, Max, Franz, and Stanislas. With his friend Jean-Luc Fromental, he contributed to the creation of the L’Année de la Bande Dessinée series. Since 2007, he wrote for illustrator Catel graphic novels about Kiki de Montparnasse, Olympe de Gouges, Josephine Baker, Alice Guy, and Anita Conti. From 2006 to 2020, Bocquet directed the Aire libre collection at Dupuis. José-Louis Bocquet has published crime novels and is also the biographer of Asterix author Rene Goscinny, film director Henri-Georges Clouzot, and Belgian comics artist André Franquin. His work as a screenwriter has involved collaborations with film directors Georges Lautner, Pierre Jolivet, and Patrick Grandperret, and the artist Hervé Di Rosa.
