Ben Ross Davis

  • Born 1987-08-29

Ben Ross Davis started in comics after years of working across illustration, painting, sculpture, design, music, and writing. He moved to Brooklyn in the early 2010s and later returned to school at Pratt for his graduate degree, taking digital illustration seriously. The roots of his first comic project trace back to black-and-white vector drawings made for tour posters on Domino Records and for his music project, Night Helix, along with a period of obsession with patterns and the Memphis Group. His digital drawing started in 2008 at the University of Texas, when he first learned Illustrator. He now teaches that same exercise at Queens College and Baruch. By late 2022, his first comic project, Hexas, finally emerged as the right story to pull together illustration, narrative, and design. Throughout 2024, he wrote the plot, planned the storyboards, and drew every page by hand in Illustrator, creating his first full graphic narrative.
