Synopsis

Joan, who has trouble mixing with people, accompanies her sister to Switzerland to help take care of her sister's children. While there she meets Max, who is popular and stands out from the crowd. Joan is surprised when Max continues to seek her company and everyone is surprised when he asks her to marry him at once before he returns to his post of district officer on an island in the East. Only later does Joan learn that the governor has told Max to find a suitable wife and settle down due to a previous incident with a native girl.
