Synopsis

Carl dreams of riches, but works as a lumberjack for Linda's father. She loves him, but he feels he could never make her happy. He goes to the city where he saves a little girl from being hit by a car. He leaves the scene immediately, but when he goes to get something to eat he can't find his wallet. Accused of being a scoundrel, he hits the owner. Fleeing, he goes hungry and falls sick. Hearing of his plight, Linda arrives to nurse him back to life, but leaves before he awakes. Then the father of the little girl returns the wallet he lost when he saved her and adds a large cash reward.
