Synopsis
Hélène, a nurse, is in love with Regis, a doctor at the hospital. When a patient is flown in following a car accident in the Sudan, Hélène learns that Lisa may not walk again and her fiance never contacted her after the accident. Hélène prods Regis to use his system to cure Lisa. The cure works, but Regis gets Lisa pregnant and decides to marry her. Hélène wants to get away and is assigned to Taban, an English protectorate in Saudi Arabia. One day a patient with a poor reputation is admitted. Hélène is shocked to learn he is Lisa's old fiance and has tried desperately to find Lisa.
