Synopsis

A group of miners is devoured by a massive worm. The authorities are unable to solve the mystery, but when a second group disappears, a mysterious deep tunnel is found in the area. On a hunch, mine manager Peter Travis calls a biologist friend Sam Lever, who discover thousands of worms emerging from the ground. A plane strike shreds the monsters, but new worms grow from each piece. On Sam's advice, the area is flooded with sea water and the worms are killed by the salt.
