Synopsis

Jane meets Joe when his old car is broken down on a dusty road. Joe works for Jane's father, who owns most of Plainton. She falls in love with him and suggests they elope when her father opposes their marriage. But when she shows up at the for their rendezvous, she learns that Joe has gone to London with the money her father has given him.
