Synopsis
Paula gets a job helping restore old art treasures in Venice, assisting an old sculptor. She is happy there until she meets a young man named Marcello. When she mentions his name to the sculptor, his manner abruptly changes and he tells her he has a headache. Later that evening when she goes to meet Marcello, he has a coat and a black veil for her. She is frozen as he tells her an old man has drowned and that she is going to inherit a fortune as she had planned.
