Synopsis

Hawkman explains to Hawkgirl the history of a stolen artifact they have retrieved. In 1917, two incarnations of the Hawks, Pinkerton detective James Wright and gun moll Sheila Carr, who had a prior relationship, meet again when Wright and his associate Sam try to intercept the delivery of the Black Bird. This pursuit leads to Louie Moretti, an incarnation of Hath-Set, who knows his past-lives' history with James and Sheila. While Morettli is distracted, James finds the Black Bird and unlocks memories of his past lives. Grabbing Sheila, James tries to fly to freedom, but the pair are shot down.
