Synopsis

Beep Beep paints a highway stripe detour that will run Wile E. off a cliff.

Notes

**A question has arisen over which issue was the first appearance of the Beep Beep Road Runner and Wile E. Coyote in a comic book.**

**Four Color #918** *(this issue)* was released first, with an interior issue code of "587" (July, 1958).

**Bugs Bunny Vacation Funnies #8** would have been released a month later, with an interior issue code of "588" (August, 1958).

**Here's where the mix-up might have occurred...**

**Four Color #918** opens with the entire Road Runner family front and center - Beep-Beep, Matilda, and the three nameless sons.

The Road Runner story in **Bugs Bunny Vacation Funnies #8** shows Beep-Beep and Wile E. introducing themselves to each other for the first time - AND has the three Beep-Boys HATCHING FROM THEIR EGGS ON PANEL!

To anyone reading that story, it would certainly LOOK LIKE the first appearance of Beep-Beep and Wile E., and that would account for an earlier index entry saying it was.

For the record, this indexer first read that story reprinted in Golden Comics Digest #17 (1971)... and *I* certainly thought that it would have been the first comic book story for the characters.

It probably WAS the first one produced, though if the dates on the issues are accurate, not the first one released! .................................

The following individuals have been removed from the **"Editing:"** as they are DELL corporate people, and had nothing whatsoever to do the the creative efforts (editing, scripting, art) that went into making this comic book, or any other Dell Comics title.

The actual editors of the creative content are now listed in their proper place - at the top of this page.
