Synopsis

King Louis XIV of France has died and his grandson has inherited the throne at the age of five. There were two who claimed regency of the young king, Duc Philippe d'Orleans and Duc de Maine, with Philippe ultimately seizing power. The Duchess de Maine engages the services of the bold Raoul d'Harmental to carry out a plan to kidnap Philippe and have him imprisoned in Spain, leaving the regency, by proxy, to Duc de Maine. A vast conspiracy ensues to carry out the plan, but the conspirators are betrayed and the plan discovered, with all the immediate conspirators caught.
