Synopsis

Ted Kane and his partner have bought a tract of timber in a district controlled by a gang of cut-throat lumber hijackers.

Reprinted from

• Fight Comics #7— Reprinted with changes from Big Red McLane story in Fight Comics. Changes include: Pseudonym of writer changed. Red wears a hat in the original story, it's been doctored out in Ted's story. All of the speech balloons have been expanded to give the text more breathing room. Page 2 has some interesting detail added in the trees and path at the bottom of the page, as well as speech balloons added for the attackers. There are speech balloons added in a number of places. In the last panel the text "We better get that timber cut before another war starts!" is replaced with "We better get that timber cut before we tangle with another gang!". The difference of course is that Fight 7 came out just before WWII and Witty 1 came out just as it was ending.
• Jumbo Comics #19— Changes from the original story mostly come down to names, colorings, and the occasional placement of some text. The only panel changed altogether is the final one, which shows a visual of the protagonists instead of a visual of the villain.
• Wings Comics #5— A few changes from the original version: "Parachute Patrol" becomes "Junior Patrol," and a caption in the final panel (which in the original urges readers to follow the adventures of the boys in Wings Comics) is changed to a generic "Buy War Bonds and Stamps" caption. Pat Powers byline in the original is removed in this reprinted story.
• Fight Comics #14— Changes from the original story mostly come down to names, colorings, and the occasional wording of some text. The final panel also features a war bonds message instead of a fireworks ad.
