In the United Kingdom some retailers distributed this comic for free alongside the game's release in October 2023, with cover title 'Spider-Man 2' and indicia that reads 'Custom Sony Interactive Entertainment 2023 UK English Print Comic No. 1'.
In the United States a very similar issue was available as part of free comic book day in May 2023, with indicia that reads 'Custom Sony Interactive Entertainment 2023 English Print Comic No. 1'. Although this issue had identical artwork and panel layout, some of the words used by the characters were different. The issues also shared the same barcode.
