DC asked readers to not distribute this promotional issue due to the fact the Red Hood (DC, 2025 series) was abruptly cancelled a week before, on the day that the first issue went on sale, due to controversial comments posted online by the author. However, many retailers continued to distribute this issue.

The online version of this issue was modified by replacing the cover image and story preview from Red Hood (DC, 2025 series) #1 with the cover image and story preview from Immortal Legend Batman #1.

A second printing of this issue [Batman: Gotham Sampler [Second Printing] #1 (December 2025)](app://issue/2780166) was released on October 22, 2025 with altered content. In the second printing, the cover image and story preview from Red Hood (DC, 2025 series) #1 were removed and replaced with the cover image and story preview from DC K.O.: Knightfight #1.
