Information from Classics Illustrated: A Cultural History by William B. Jones, Jr.
HRN 166 contains the new version of the artwork, but HRN 167 contains the old version of the artwork. According to the Jones Classics Illustrated reference book HRN 166 was published in 1968. The four HRN 167's were published earlier from 1963 through 1966. This explains why the new artwork was used in the last and only edition to have it.
